Why number the folders
Finder and Explorer sort alphabetically, which puts Exports above Footage and Admin above everything. Numbering the top level forces the order you actually work in, so the structure reads the same on every machine and every editor finds the same thing in the same place.
Name the root so it sorts
Starting the folder name with an ISO date, 2026-03-14 rather than 14-03-2026, means projects sort chronologically without any effort. Add the client next and the job last, and a year of work stays browsable without opening anything.
Three copies, or it does not exist
A structure is only useful if it is repeated on the working drive, the backup and the archive. Generate the same tree in all three places at the start of the job, so restoring from a backup drops files exactly where the project expects them.
