4. Take Your Editing To the Next Level (How I did it… so you can just copy me)
So… I used to be a full-time creative director, and would normally work 8-12 hours a day, non-stop, for months. The grind was real, but the burnout was even more intense. Which i’m sure you can relate to.
I was drowning in endless editing tasks, feeling like I was barely keeping up, and worst of all—missing out on the things that truly matter:
hitting the gym, posting my own content, and spending quality time with family.
I knew something had to change. I couldn’t keep this pace up if I wanted to maintain my creativity and my life outside of work.
So, I made a decision: enough was enough. I needed to start working smarter, not harder.
That’s when I created my first set of presets. These presets literally saved me hours of editing time every day. But I didn’t stop there. I became obsessed with making my editing workflow as close to "copy and paste" as possible.
That’s when I realized I was still spending way too much time on one thing—editing hooks.
Everything else in my workflow had been streamlined, but hooks were still a bottleneck, taking me around 20 minutes per hook.
So, I created a template with 15 different hooks—and suddenly, I went from 20 minutes to less than 5 minutes per hook. That’s 5x faster.
With all that extra time, I was able to start growing again as a creative. I began making better content, and more importantly, I began living a better life.
I have time to hit the gym, post my own content, and spend quality time with my family—without constantly thinking about work.
